Aerating

Quite possibly the most important thing you can provide for your lawn. The type of aerating we do is specifically called core aerating.

We highly recommend aerating services for anyone that would like to have a thick and healthy lawn.

Core Aeration is done with a specialized heavy-duty machine that removes small plugs and thatch from a lawn. It creates a channel through which oxygen, water, and nutrients can penetrate into the soil.

Right after aeration is also the perfect time to add a lawn fertilizer or lime to your lawn.

Aeration is great for any lawn and for best results is done twice a year. We do aeration for our customers once during the early spring and another time during the fall. It is especially beneficial for lawns that have compaction and that have a lot of thatch. Areas where people often walk through the lawn are also greatly improved.

The plugs that are taken out of the lawn usually range from 1 to 3 inches long. It will depend on the type of soil you have and how compact it is at the time of aeration. For best results, we recommend not raking those plugs off of your lawn after we aerate. They are part of the natural process of being decomposed back into your lawn to further enhance your lawn. They will not be noticeable after a few weeks.

Another great benefit of aerating, especially here on the Sunshine Coast, is that it has been shown to help with drought stress.

Lawn aeration reduces nasty weed infestations, stimulates root growth and removes excess thatch layers too.

Most importantly it encourages deep and healthy roots which is the most crucial factor in having a healthy, lush lawn. Deep roots in turn are proven to naturally get rid of the weeds without the need of any chemical applications.
